I wish someone would create new launchers/installers for GOG versions. if you have a GOG copy, you have to use it because the old launcher wants the key. I also had to use the key workaround described in article. the game runs fluently on ultra in 1920x1080 on the machine i used for install. i turned surround sound of (since i have only 2 speakers). Though i had to leave sound setting at "default" not "hw 0,0" to get the sound working in my case. I copied the config settings form the author. I have renamed the two libraries that come with installer (just as mentioned in article). On install i used a premade folder as target: /home/ myusername/quake4įor symlinks (in installer) i used the same folder. I got it working using original launcher/installer.
